The Courage Center is a comprehensive substance use disorder (SUD) treatment agency based in Gorham, Maine. We’re a state-licensed, MAT-friendly program that’s professionally staffed and peer-led.

Community

We don’t believe in isolating people in sterile settings. Our space looks and feels like a community center—because it is. We offer rec space, snacks, laundry, and mailboxes. We connect participants with jobs, local events, and meaningful engagement in the community. We believe recovery should happen in community, not apart from it.

Service

Everyone here contributes, and everyone matters. Whether it's showing a new resident around, making coffee in the kitchen, or helping set up for a group, we believe in lifting each other up through service. Most of our staff are in recovery themselves. No one is above or below anyone else—we’re all walking this path together.

We know there are many ways to get well. Whether your path involves therapy, 12-step meetings, art, faith, movement, work, or just time to heal—we’re here to help you figure out what works. Recovery isn’t about fitting into a mold. It’s about finding which path works best for you.
